Description
One tool, two jobs. Four spring-loaded claws hook under a switch and pull it straight out of a hot-swap socket, and the same claws close on a keycap rim when you are changing the look rather than the feel.
Four claws, not two
Two-claw pullers grip opposite corners, so the switch tilts as it comes up. Four claws take it from all four sides and the switch leaves the socket vertically, which is the part that matters on a hot-swap board, where the socket pins are the fragile side of the joint.
The shell is translucent, so you can see the claws seat before you pull, and the wire frame springs them open again when you let go.
Keycaps too
The claws also close on the rim of a 1U keycap, so a cap swap does not need a second tool. It is the same motion: seat, squeeze, lift straight up.
Will it fit
| Setup | Works |
|---|---|
| MX-style switches – Cherry, Gateron, Kailh, Outemu and copies | Yes |
| Magnetic and hall-effect switches | Yes |
| Hot-swap sockets | Yes, this is what it is for |
| Soldered boards | The claws still grip, but the solder stays – desolder first |
| Topre and rubber dome | No |
| Low-profile switches | Check the claw gap |
MX-style footprint. The claws need a little clearance around the switch housing, so a plate with a raised lip can be tight.
Specifications

Before you order
- Tool only. No switches, no keycaps, no board.
- Translucent, not solid. The shell picks up the colour of whatever is under it.
- Pull straight up. The claws are plastic, so levering sideways against a plate is how they break.
Tool only. The keyboards, switches and keycaps in the photographs are not included.
